USB Introduces Round Up

New Checking Feature Automatically Saves With Every Debit Card Purchase

Union State Bank customers now have a new way to effortlessly build their savings with Round Up, a convenient feature now available with any USB consumer checking account. The free “add on” feature automatically rounds up each debit card purchase to the nearest dollar and transfers the difference into the checking or savings account of the customer’s choice.

“It’s a seamless way to save a little with every swipe, without even noticing,” explained Kelli Houchen, Union State Bank’s Newton Market Coordinator. “Round Up makes accounting easier and saving painless, as the rounded purchases are even dollar amounts and the money is automatically transferred.”

Amanda Conrad, Winfield Retail Coordinator for Union State Bank, likens the feature to a modern twist on a timeless habit. “Think of our Round Up feature as tossing your spare change into your coin jar at the end of the day,” she said. “Every time you swipe your debit card during the day, the difference between that transaction total and the nearest whole dollar will automatically sweep into your chosen account at the end of the day. For instance, you swipe your card for $1.75 and then later in the day for $5.50, you will see one transfer at the end of the day for $0.75.”

Conrad believes the benefits of Round Up go beyond convenience. “Using Round Up helps my customers build their savings without having to do anything extra after they enroll,” added Conrad. “They just get to see their reserve fund grow. If an emergency comes up, it is as simple as transferring the funds back to your primary checking account.”

Customers are already sharing their appreciation for the feature. “My customers have told me that they like the Round Up feature because it helps them meet their requirements to earn a better interest rate on their eVantage Save Account and it helps them build reserve funds,” said Conrad. “The Round Up feature is a simple and affordable way to grow your reserve funds, whether that be for a vacation, a rainy-day fund, a down payment for a car or a house.”

Union State Bank has made the enrollment process for Round Up easy and flexible. “You can come into a branch, call us, or send us a message through online banking that you would like to enroll,” said Conrad. “We will then collect a signature on the authorization form, in person or via e-signature. If you have more questions about the feature, all you need to do is give us a call or feel free to use our chat feature through online banking or our website.”
