Short Message Service (SMS) Privacy Statement

Overview

UNION STATE BANK is committed to protecting your privacy. This Short Message Service (“SMS”) Privacy Statement tells you how we treat the Non-Public Personal Information (“NPI”) that is collected and received from you in connection with your use of the Short Message Service (“Service”), which we make available to you through a third-party service provider. This SMS Policy Statement is incorporated into the SMS Terms of Service.

By using the Service, you agree to the terms of this SMS Policy Statement and the SMS Terms of Service. UNION STATE BANK reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to modify or change this SMS Policy Statement and SMS Terms of Service at any time with or without prior notice to you. This SMS Policy Statement, and any changes, are effective as soon as it is posted on our website. Your continued use of the Service following the posting of any changes to the SMS Policy Statement or SMS Terms of Service constitutes your full acceptance of those changes.

Non-Public Personal Information (“NPI”) is information that individually identifies you, such as your mobile phone number or user screen name, your name, as well as any NPI that you choose to include in any messages you send through the Service.

By using the Service, UNION STATE BANK will receive the following information from our third-party service providers: your mobile phone number when you send a text message to us, the text of messages that you send to other users of the Service, any user or screen name that you select in connection with the Service, as well as any comments or feedback regarding the Service that you send to us.

We use NPI to:

  • provide you with the SMS Service;
  • process and respond to inquiries;
  • improve the Service;
  • if necessary, contact you with important messages;
  • conduct research, and;
  • for our everyday business purposes.

Each message that you send through the Service (either to us or to other users of the  Service) is stored on our servers or our third-party service provider servers. We retain these messages on UNION STATE BANK servers or our third-party service provider servers.

We provide such information to third-party service providers for the sole purpose of processing NPI on our behalf. When this is done, it is subject to agreements that obligate those parties to process such information only on our instructions and in compliance with our Security Policy and our Privacy Policy.  We provide such information to contracted third parties who have entered into non-disclosure and contractual agreements with us. If the third party fails to comply with our terms, UNION STATE BANK is not accountable in any way for any liability or reimbursement.

UNION STATE BANK will provide your NPI in direct response to subpoenas, court orders, or legal processes, or to establish or exercise our legal rights, or the legal rights of others, or defend against legal claims.

If necessary, UNION STATE BANK will share your NPI to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of UNION STATE BANK’s Terms of Service, or as otherwise required by law.

UNION STATE BANK will transfer your NPI if the bank’s assets are acquired by or merged with another banking organization.

UNION STATE BANK takes precautions to ensure the security of your NPI, including ensuring that our third-party service providers protect the security of your NPI. You should note that in using the Service, your information will travel through third-party infrastructures which are not under our control (such as a third-party text delivery platform or your carrier network).

UNION STATE BANK cannot protect, nor does this SMS Policy apply to, any information that you transmit to other users. You should never transmit NPI to other users.

 

Mobile Privacy

UNION STATE BANK  respects your privacy and the information you provide when you opt in to receive mobile communications. We do not share, sell, rent, or trade any mobile opt-in data or consent information with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes. Your mobile information will only be used to provide the services and communications you have requested, such as account alerts, notifications, or messages related to your membership and financial services.

 

Opting In

A mobile user might opt-in by:

  • Using the Service
  • Entering a phone number online;
  • Sending a Mobile Originating (MO) message;
  • Filling out a form that includes their phone number;
  • Signing up at any bank location.
 

Opting Out

UNION STATE BANK’s third-party service provider gives you the ability to opt out of the Service for any reason. You can opt out by texting “STOP” or “QUIT” to The Common short Code number from which the message originated.

UNION STATE BANK reserves the right to send you certain communications relating to the Service, such as announcements and administrative messages, without offering you the opportunity to opt-out of receiving them.

UNION STATE BANK requires that users of this service be limited to US residents only.
