Union State Bank Marks 20 Years of Support to William Newton Hospital

Union State Bank’s dedication to the health and well-being of the region continues to reach new milestones. In renewing its annual pledge of $10,000, Union State Bank is named the presenting sponsor for the William Newton Healthcare Foundation’s annual gala and benefit auction in Winfield, KS.
“This year’s contribution from USB marks an incredible 20 years of support, dating back to contributions made for the foundation's founding,” William Newton Healthcare Foundation Executive Director Annika Morris noted.
“We are thrilled to celebrate two decades of standing alongside William Newton Hospital, and 15 years as presenting sponsor for this wonderful event,” stated Cory Helmer, Winfield Market President of Union State Bank. “I always look forward to the opportunity to attend. This year’s ‘Grow with Us' garden theme is a reflection of how our ongoing partnership continues to blossom and support the health of our community.”
Union State Bank has been a cornerstone of the foundation's success since 2006, providing both invaluable financial backing and active leadership. Beyond corporate support, bank employees consistently demonstrate their dedication through personal contributions and volunteer work.
"This will be my eighth year serving on the Gala Planning Committee," said Clayton Pappan, Union State Bank's Director of Marketing. "I enjoy being able to help shape this event each year. Through a combined effort by the committee members, foundation and hospital staff and community partners, we are able to put together a memorable evening that not only is entertaining but also makes a real impact for local healthcare."
Past contributions from Union State Bank have fortified the hospital through physician recruitment, medical equipment upgrades, and facility renovations. Proceeds from this year's gala will directly support the Second Century Campaign, funding Phase 2 of the hospital’s long-term plan to expand emergency care and meet growing demands for healthcare access in Cowley County and neighboring regions.
Stepping into his first gala, newly appointed William Newton Hospital CEO Jason Anglin, MBA, shared his appreciation for the bank's historic backing. Anglin emphasized the vital nature of local collaboration. “Community partnerships are the bedrock of exceptional rural healthcare, and having a champion like Union
State Bank by our side for 20 years is extraordinary,” Anglin stated. “The hospital is deeply grateful for USB’s unwavering commitment as we work to expand our services and care for our region.”

To date, the foundation has raised nearly $900,000 through its annual galas. The 2026 event, featuring the "Garden Gala: Grow with Us" theme, will be held in Winfield on Saturday, October 10. The evening will feature entertainment, a five-course meal, silent and live auctions, and the presentation of Union State Bank's annual "Healthcare Hero Award" by Helmer.
