Bennie the Bank Elf Brings Holiday Cheer and a Chance to Win $500 at Union State Bank

Union State Bank is kicking off the holiday season with the return of one of its most festive traditions: the Bennie the Bank Elf giveaway. Throughout December, customers can spot Bennie, an inflatable, larger-than-life version of one of Santa’s cheerful helpers, making surprise appearances at USB branches. When Bennie is on site, visitors are invited to snap photos, pick a small gift from Santa’s sack, and enter for a chance to win a $500 holiday giveaway.

Now in its third year, the promotion has grown into a beloved seasonal event for families and customers of all ages. According to Cory Helmer, Union State Bank Market President for Winfield and Udall, Kansas, feedback from previous years has been “overwhelmingly positive” and participation has consistently exceeded expectations. “Customers make a point to bring their children in to the bank so they can see Bennie!” he said, noting that the elf’s appearances have become something families look forward to.

Bryan White, USB market President for Newton, Kansas agrees, sharing that customers not only enjoy the display but are eager to enter the drawing. “They are excited to put their name in the drawing for the shot at winning,” he said. For White, the energy Bennie brings into the branches is reminiscent of traditional holiday photo opportunities. “For me, this creates the same excitement of bringing in Santa Claus for pictures with kids. It creates an excitement for the holiday season.” He added that the concept has been such a hit that he hopes it will continue for years to come, perhaps even evolving into new characters someday. “Once Bennie starts to wear out or get old, I think it would be great to do something similar, but maybe something slightly different. For instance, a snowman or a Santa.”

This year also marks the first Bennie promotion for Arkansas City Market President Zack Stoy, who anticipates customers will respond warmly. “The holiday theme and the chance to receive something special should be well-received, and my hope is that it helps customers feel appreciated and strengthens their connection to Union State Bank,” he said.

All three agree that the heart of the promotion is meaningful customer connection. As Helmer explained, “This provides the bank with an opportunity to interact with our customers in a different and fun way while also offering a monetary gift around the holiday season.” Stoy echoed that sentiment, adding that his favorite part is “seeing the kids light up when they receive a gift from Santa’s bag” and the extra opportunities it brings to catch up with customers face to face.

With community spirit, festive fun, and a chance to win $500, Bennie the Bank Elf is ready once again to spread holiday magic across Union State Bank branches.
