Heizelman Receives Wichita CFO Award

Union State Bank Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer LeRoy Heizelman has been recognized as a recipient of the 2024 CFO Awards by the Wichita Business Journal. Heizelman is one of 14 leaders recognized in the January 26th print edition of the journal.

“Being selected as a CFO of the Year Honoree is a wonderful honor for me,” Heizelman said.

Heizelman’s career has been connected to the banking industry for over forty years. He joined RelianzBank in Wichita, which merged with Union State Bank in 2015, twelve years ago. Heizelman has been Union State Bank’s CFO since 2018.

“While mergers and acquisitions have been the biggest challenges in my career, they have also been the most interesting and rewarding as the whole process comes to fruition. A lot of pieces of the puzzle must come together for a merger to work and be successful,” Heizelman said.

This is the 15th year the Wichita Business Journal has honored top CFOs. The publication has recognized a total of 245 CFOs during that span.

“The Wichita Business Journal honors chief financial officers each year because they not only lead companies in terms of managing financial health, but also as a key part of crafting a successful long-term vision through organization and strategic planning,” wrote Kirk Seminoff in a recent Wichita Business Journal blog post.

Heizelman, along with the other honorees, was recognized at an awards luncheon on January 25th. The luncheon was held at Riverfront Stadium in Wichita. The entire Union State Bank finance team participated to show their support for Heizelman.

“I think one of the achievements I am most proud of is developing a team and fostering a team atmosphere. I believe we can accomplish much more as an organization if we collaborate and work together as a well-functioning team. My team is the secret to my success and I wouldn’t be here without them,” expressed Heizelman.
