Union State Bank President and CEO Eric Kurtz has been named an Executive of the Year for 2023 by the Wichita Business Journal. Kurtz is one of 29 executives who will be recognized for their outstanding leadership in the November 10th print edition of the journal, and at a luncheon on November 13th.
“These senior-level executives are leading their companies to great heights through finance, development or overall direction,” said Kirk Seminoff, Editor of the Wichita Business Journal.
Kurtz has over 30-years of banking experience, joining Union State Bank in 2009 as Chief Lending Officer and Executive Vice-President. In January 2011 he was promoted to Corporate President. It was the first time since 1957 someone other than a Docking family member had held the CEO position. Kurtz was inducted into the Southwestern College Business Hall of Fame in 2017.
“I am honored to represent our brand of banking and am very proud of the accomplishments of team USB. I am humbled by the recognition of the WBJ and accept only as a recognition of the entirety of our joined efforts,” said Kurtz.
Under Kurt’s leadership, Union State Bank has grown to include a dozen banking locations across Kansas and Oklahoma with total assets of over $600 million. In addition, Union State Bank has recently received national recognition as one of the top 200 Healthiest Banks in the Nation with an A+ Rating, according to DepositAccounts.com, as well as a Bauer 5-Star Rated financial institution.
