Union State Bank Vice President and Director of Marketing Clayton Pappan has been recognized as a Marketing Awards Honoree by the Wichita Business Journal. Pappan is one of twenty-two professionals working in the marketing field who were featured in the July 12th print edition of the journal.
“They are leaders who excel in making their company or organization look and perform its best,” according to Kirk Seminoff, Editor of the Wichita Business Journal article.
Pappan has over twenty years in the marketing field helping organizations reach their customers.
“I’ve always seen marketing as the bridge that connects companies to people. It’s easy for a business to become hyper-focused on the numbers. Marketing is there to help provide balance by sharing the company’s human impact,” Pappan said. “Each touch point that passes through marketing is an opportunity to connect to strangers, strengthen existing relationships or build organizational pride through creative story telling. I want to be part of that process.”
Pappan joined Union State Bank as Director of Marketing in 2018. As a vice president, he works as part of the organization’s leadership team to develop financial service relationships.
“I am actively involved within seven unique markets throughout south-central Kansas and north-central Oklahoma, coordinating all marketing and public relations efforts,” said Pappan. “Being the primary stakeholder for all strategic communications provides ample opportunity to explore a wide variety of marketing techniques, including design, customer analytics, online development and event coordination.”
As technology and the ways in which people communicate change, Pappan has had to learn to adapt over the years.
“The best advice I can give to someone who wants to be in marketing is to lean into your strengths, but never stop learning. Are you creative, a planner, love statistics? It doesn’t matter, marketing offers opportunities for all personality types. Focus on what you enjoy most, while challenging yourself to continue to grow,” Pappan said.
