Michael McWhirt, Union State Bank’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer has announced the promotions of staff members Kelli Houchen and Amanda Conrad. Houchen has been promoted to Assistant Vice President, Newton Market Coordinator. Conrad has been promoted to Assistant Vice President, Winfield Market Coordinator.
“Kelli is a trusted resource and provides excellent mentorship to her staff,” shared McWhirt. “Amanda works hard to develop her staff and is a trusted resource for her teams in Udall and Winfield.”
As Retail Market Coordinator, Houchen oversees the daily functions of the teller line and new accounts within the market.
“I feel at home here with USB. I love interacting and building relationships with our customers. Making them feel comfortable knowing that they can count on you to help with any of their banking needs is a great feeling. I want to continue building relationships with customers and help Union State Bank grow,” Houchen said.
Houchen is a banking industry veteran, having worked in the field for 28 years. She has spent the past twelve-years with Midland National Bank in Newton, KS, which merged with Union State Bank in 2020.

Conrad has seven-years of banking experience, with two-years at Union State Bank. Like Houchen, Conrad is responsible for leading the tellers and account representatives.
“My favorite part of the day is when customers come in with a problem and I am able to solve their issue and they leave happy. I love that I can make an impact,” Conrad said.
Conrad oversees retail staff for both the Winfield and Udall markets. She offices out of Union State Bank’s Winfield Main branch located at 823 Main in Winfield, KS.
